resolution vs resolve_1_4_2014New Year’s resolutions go out the door all too soon after one says or writes the thought.  According to Dictionary.com, the word resolution means “a formal expression of opinion or intention.“  So, New Year’s Eve, just a few days past, was a day when resolutions, those great opinions and intentions, were thought, spoken, scribed and even shared.

Now several days later, how many of  your resolutions are already forgotten already?

Here are some interesting New Year Resolution statistics:

NYresolution_1_1_2014In Scranton University’s research, it was found that “People who explicitly make resolutions are 10 times more likely to attain their goals than people who don’t explicitly make resolutions.

So what, might one ask,  is the difference?  The difference is resolve.  Believe it or not, there is a slight difference in the definition – Resolve is “to make a firm or definite decision. “  Which helps to explain why people who “explicitly” make resolutions are more successful. They treat a resolution like a goal.
